Hi Chad,

Thanks Dave (and Cody)
While I was thrilled to see and photograph them (I drove 2 and a half hours to do so), I was a little concerned by how few we saw.
I really hope they also live in the stretches adjacent to the main spot, but I didn't see any there in the short time we had (but conditions may not have been ideal that day). I was dismayed at the Google Earth images I saw of tire tracks in the grass as that seems to be where the juveniles hide. It made me wish someone would throw a fence up around at least part of it!

Great find and thank you for sharing. Due to sensitivity we do ask that folks do not share this location as it is rather small and there have been issues in the past.

Thanks again for sharing and glad you got to see them. It would be great if people tried to find them in adjacent areas as well and throughout the County. There are other unconfirmed reports from SW Michigan of this species.

The Michigan Herp Atlas began in 2004 in an effort to collect observational data about Michigan's amphibians and reptiles.

Our goal is to document their distribution and help measure changes or trends in populations.
